For a seven-year-old "state of the art"
is a Commodore 64 and LOGO. If you're an adventurous seven-year-old
then you program in Basic, too. Racheli Sokol was an exceptional
elementary student growing up in Israel, tackling those technologies
as well as Pascal. Math, which she describes as "the love of my
life" would draw her deeper into computers, chemistry and physics.
And by the age of 15 she decided to study computer sciences to become
Racheli would receive her BA in computer sciences from Technion
Institute in Haifa, Israel. The institute is regarded as the MIT
of Israel and recognized the world over for important scientific
research. Now 22, Sokol has achieved her dream of programming and
continues to reach for new achievements.
When did you first discover your love and/or
obsession with computers and technology?
When I was a kid. :) Computers for me are something ordinary that
I use and work with all day. I can't imagine myself without them.
I became obsessed with the Internet in college, first surfing, chatting
and emailing and later on with Web design and development. I can't
imagine myself apart from the Internet. :)
How do you earn a living?
I earn a living by working as a programmer and team manager in
a big software house.
Do you consider yourself a Geek?
Yes, I do. I think that my interests in science and technology,
my knowledge in these areas and the fact that almost all my time
is spent with computers or on the Internet qualify me.
What is your favorite Website?

What do you do when you're not working?
When I'm not working, and I work many hours, I like to spend time
with my boyfriend and my friends, read, watch movies, spend time
on the Internet. I also like to dance, something I don't really
find time to do. I try to have fun as much as I can. :)

"If you put your mind to it, you can do anything."
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Wynona Rider. She has some resemblance to me and she has the geek

I admire famous scientists like Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and

When and where were you the happiest?
In my last year in the Technion, the university where I studied,
after I met my boyfriend. I'm also pretty happy these days. :)
